KL Rahul jokingly imitated Delhi Capitals’ mentor Kevin Pietersen during a team-bonding event earlier this week.
Delhi Capitals’ star batter, KL Rahul, joined the squad following the side’s opening-match victory against the Lucknow Super Giants earlier this week. In a thrilling contest in Visakhapatnam, the Capitals held their nerves to defeat Rishabh Pant’s men by a wicket, with Ashutosh Sharma steering a brilliant win with an unbeaten 66 off just 31 deliveries.

Rahul had missed the opening match due to personal reasons, as he and his wife Athiya Shetty had recently welcomed their baby girl. This joyous occasion did not go unnoticed by the DC squad, who took to social media to celebrate the new arrival. In a heartwarming video, the team performed the cradle celebration for Rahul and Athiya in the dressing room, a gesture that quickly went viral and received widespread praise across various platforms.
On Wednesday, DC shared a heartwarming video from a team dinner, capturing the fun-filled evening with the entire squad. The event featured players engaging in playful activities, including imitating one another and participating in light-hearted games.
Rahul took the spotlight and had the squad in splits with his hilarious impersonation of the team’s mentor, Kevin Pietersen.
In an amusing moment, Rahul not only mimicked Pietersen’s distinct batting stance but also put on a spot-on impression of his voice. “Mate, any guesses?” Rahul jokingly asked.

Rahul played for Lucknow Super Giants from the side’s maiden season in the IPL (2022) until the last season. The franchise released him ahead of the mega auction, and the Capitals eventually picked him up for INR 14 crore.
There had been intense speculations over DC’s captaincy ever since Rahul’s acquisition; the batter has led his last two franchises (LSG and Punjab Kings). However, it was reported that Rahul denied the captaincy with Capitals, as Axar Patel, who has been a part of the franchise since 2019, succeeded the outgoing Pant.
With Rahul joining the squad, the batter is expected to make his Delhi Capitals debut when the side faces the high-flying Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 30 in Visakhapatnam.
